The Republic of Azerbaijan, together with the World Bank, has been supporting efforts to improve IDP livelihoods as part of the Azerbaijan IDP Living Standards and Livelihoods Project. During a recent visit to Azerbaijan in May 2015, the World Bank mission and the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan agreed to start the preparation of Additional Financing for the IDP Living Standards and Livelihoods project and would support, for the most part, infrastructure that can have clear economic development impacts.
The main objective of the project was to support IDP’s settlements and residential quarters to stay economically sustainable and self-reliant through the i) support in development of the criteria for the identification and selection of group of IDP’s settlements and residential quarters; ii) assessment and identification of the demands for the public, social and economic infrastructure in selected IDP’s settlements and residential quarters; iii) assessment of the existing infrastructure and recommendations aimed for urban development of public, social and economic infrastructure based on the assessed demands of selected IDP’s settlements and residential quarters.
